In an article published recently (1) it was mentioned that many TMD patients feel that all their articulation related problems started after a dental appointment. This alone should awaken our desire to know and understand the etiology of TMD. In my presentation I will share current knowledge of diagnostic procedures and different treatment modalities. I will cover the importance of stable condylar position and will explain why I feel that occlusion still plays an important role in the etiology of TMD. I will speak for general dentists, orthodontists and surgeons alike. TMD concerns all dental specialties and should be understood by all and this is my objective.
