Dr. Watson is Professor of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine, Director of the Harborview Sleep Clinic, and Co-director of the UW Medicine Sleep Center. He is a Past-President of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Board of Sleep Medicine. He is board certified in both neurology and sleep medicine. He is Chair of the Scientific Advisory Board of SleepScore Labs.
Dr. Watson is an active sleep clinician and researcher with a total of 110 publications, 10 book chapters, and a book on clinical sleep medicine. He has used twin research and genetic epidemiology methodologies to assess heritability and gene/environment interactions of phenotypes including: sleep duration, sleepiness, insomnia, circadian type, neighborhood deprivation, obesity, and depression. He has used co-twin research methodologies to assess mitochondrial DNA copy number variation and the transcriptome in sleep duration discordant monozygotic twins. He has developed guidelines regarding optimal sleep duration in adults and the treatment of central nervous system hypersomnias and researched the relationship between sleep duration/disorders and cancer. He is a co-inventor of patented technology behind the SleepScore app and an active researcher using consumer sleep technologies and artificial intelligence to address population sleep problems.
Dr. Watson is a passionate sleep advocate and active in sleep public relations having given hundreds of talks and media interviews, both nationally and internationally, on sleep related topics throughout his career.
Dr. Watson received a chemistry degree from the University of North Carolina – Chapel Hill, where he also received his Medical Doctorate. He competed his medical internship, neurology residency, and clinical neurophysiology fellowship at the University of Washington. He also holds a Master’s degree in genetic epidemiology from the University of Washington.

Dr. Umakanth Katwa is a pediatric pulmonologist and pediatric sleep specialist at Boston Children’s Hospital in Boston. He has academic appointment at Harvard Medical School. He did his medical school in India and then completed his pediatrics residency at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India. He also did both his Pediatric Pulmonary and Sleep Medicine fellowship training at the Harvard University in Boston, USA.
He is currently the Director of sleep laboratory at the Children’s Hospital Boston and co-directs the multidisciplinary sleep surgery clinics. He also is a course co-director for pediatric sleep medicine at Harvard University and course co-director for Pediatric Dental Sleep Medicine mini-residency at Tufts University Dental School. He extensively works with dentists and orthodontist along with pediatric sleep surgeons for integration of comprehensive treatment strategies in management of OSA in children. His research interests include infant sleep apnea, phenotyping sleep apnea in children, precision diagnostic approach including airway imaging and DISE in evaluation of pediatric sleep apnea, technology integration in evaluation of sleep, and sleep telemedicine. He lectures widely across the world and has extensively published in several peer reviewed national and international journals.

Dr. Yoon completed her orthodontic and pediatric dentistry residencies at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), the nation’s pre-eminent program of its type.
